John “Shorty” Rogers Jr., 69, of 2457 S. Robeson Road, died Wednesday at Southeastern Regional Medical Center.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Ashpole Center United Methodist Church, the Revs. George Locklear and Henry Hunt officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Rogers was preceded in death by his parents, John and Sophronie Rogers; a daughter, Carolyn Rogers; and three brothers, W.H. Rogers, Israel Rogers and Stanley Rogers.
Surviving are his wife, Shelby Hunt Rogers of the home; two sons, Layton Rogers of Maxton and Don Rogers of Dillon, S.C.; a stepson, Terrel D. Dial of the home; three daughters, Shirl Jackson of Wade, Goldie R. Bryant of Maxton and Yolanda Rogers of Greensboro; two stepdaughters, Samantha Locklear of Red Springs and Tonja F. Springer of Raleigh; two brothers, Billy Rogers of Loris, S.C., and Bobby Rogers of Riverdale, Ga.; a sister, Mary Swett of McDonald; 16 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Floyd Funeral Services in Fairmont and at other times at the home, 2457 S. Robeson Road, Rowland, N.C.
