Joseph Bullard

Joseph Bullard, 88, of 1443 Albert Road, Pembroke, was born Dec. 30, 1920, to
the late Rodney and Annie Bell Bullard Locklear and departed this life
on July 12, 2009, at Southeastern Regional Medical Center.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Thompsons Funeral Home
Chapel, the Revs. Jim Quick and Jennings Bullard officiating. Burial
will follow with military rites in Bullard family cemetery.
Bullard was an avid fisherman and enjoyed meeting new people. He
retired from the United States Army after serving 20 years. He was an
active member of Pembroke VFW Post 2843 and he enjoyed talking with
people about his military career.
In addition to his parents, Bullard is preceded in death by two sons,
Walter Wadis Bullard and Lee Edward Bullard; three brothers, Jennings
Bullard, Dannigburg Bullard and Nonniemaker Bullard; a sister, Elinora
Cummings; a grandson, Terry Lester Jacobs; a stepgrandson, James
Brandon Locklear; and a great-granddaughter, Taylor McKenzie.
Bullard leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Evelyn Bullard of the
home; four daughters, Judy Jacobs and husband Knox, and Josephine
Jacobs and husband Hanson, all of Pembroke, Patsy Davis and husband
Grady, both of Conway and Joann Bullard of San Antonio; two sons,
Larry Dean Deese of Pembroke and Joseph Bullard Jr. of San Antonio; a
sister, Annie Pearl Cummings of Pembroke; three stepdaughters, Cheryl
Howington and husband Marvin, both of Lumberton, Phyllis Bell and
husband Wayne and Drenna Locklear and husband Richard, all of
Pembroke; a stepson, Roger Glenn Locklear and friend Carmelita of
Pembroke; 18 grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; 22
great=grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; five
great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
The visiation will be from 7 to 9 tonight at Thompsons Funeral Home.
