Murder suspected in man’s death

LUMBERTON — A 45-year-old Shannon man was found dead in his home on Wednesday, and investigators are investigating his death as a murder.

Sheriff’s Maj. Anthony Thompson was releasing few details this morning about the death of James Marcellus Floyd.

Floyd, who lived at 1145 Crenshaw Road, was found dead at 7:24 a.m. inside his home. Floyd is believed to have died from a gunshot wound. Investigators found his body after receiving a call about a person being shot. It’s not clear who made the call or if anyone else was at the home.

Thompson expects to have more information available for release to the public later today.
