LUMBERTON — Dr. Greg Brannon, a candidate for the U.S. Senate from Cary, will be the featured speaker at the monthly meeting of the Robeson County Republican Women’s Club on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. The public is welcome at the meeting, which will be held at Pier 41 at 2401 Elizabethtown Road.

Brannon, an obstetrician and gynecologist, will talk about the Affordable Care Act.

Brannon graduated from The University of Southern California with a bachelor of science in Biological Science in 1982 and earned a medical degree from Chicago Medical School in 1988. He completed his residency at Los Angeles County/USC Women’s Hospital in 1992. Brannon was a clinical professor at UNC/Wake Area Health Education Center in 1993 before opening a practice in Cary the same year.

He is running for the Senate seat currently held by Sen. Kay Hagan.

“I’ve heard Dr. Brannon speak … and he’s very well-versed in the Constitution,” said Brenda Pope, president of the club.
