HOPE MILLS — Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Riyaz Jinnah of Southeastern Orthopedics will present a free seminar on Thursday on MAKOplasty, a minimally-invasive partial knee resurfacing procedure to treat early to mid-stage osteoarthritis.

Using robotic arm technology, MAKOplasty can provide quicker rehabilitation and more natural knee motion post-surgery compared with total knee replacement. The seminar will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. at Southeastern Medical Clinic Gray’s Creek, which is located at 1249 Chicken Foot Road. Registration will begin at 5:30 p.m.; refreshments will be served. LUMBERTON — Learn about holiday safety and decorating tips and enjoy a free breakfast on Nov. 19 at 8 a.m. in the retail space beside Belk at Biggs Park Mall. Lumberton Fire Department and Thomas Ard will present the program.

LUMBERTON — Southeastern Health and Gibson Cancer Center will host an event to raise awareness about lung health on Nov. 21 from 1 to 5 p.m. at Biggs Park Mall as part of Lung Cancer Awareness Month and the Great American Smokeout.

The event will feature presentations by physicians, an interactive experience to show how long a person who smokes might live, information and enrollment guidance for Medicare Part D, a tobacco product trade-in and information about resources to help individuals stop smoking or using other forms of tobacco.

A memory wall will be available for individuals to place photographs of loved ones who have died of lung cancer. A candlelight vigil is planned for 5:30 p.m. in memory of those who have died of lung cancer. For information, call 910-671-5716.

LUMBERTON — Southeastern Regional Medical Center is requesting donations of magazines published within the past six months for daily distribution to patients. Donations may be dropped off at the hospital’s main lobby reception desk.
