LUMBERTON — Southeastern Hospice will hold a special training series for new volunteers from Wednesday through March 28. The sessions will be held every Wednesday and Friday from 9:30 a.m. to noon at Southeastern Home Care Services, 2002 N. Cedar St. Sessions are mandatory for volunteers who work with hospice patients and their families in their homes or at Southeastern Hospice House.

LUMBERTON — Drs. Eric Velazquez and Bamdad Farhad, both of Southeastern Surgical Center, will host seminars on a variety of weight loss surgery options, including adjustable gastric band, sleeve gastrectomy, and Roux-en-Y gastric bypass.
Dr. Velazquez will host a seminar on March 12 from 6 to 7 p.m. at Southeastern Weight Loss Center, located within the Southeastern Health Mall on the campus of Biggs Park Mall, and on March 26 at Southeastern Health Pembroke, located at 923 Third St. Farhad will host a seminar on March 25 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the weight loss center.
Dr. Barry Williamson, of Lumberton Surgical Associates, will host a seminar on LAP-BAND on March 18 from 6 to 7 p.m., also at the weight loss center.

LUMBERTON — Southeastern Health’s Community Health Education Center will host a Laughter Yoga session on March 12 at 8:30 a.m. at the center, located in Biggs Park Mall. For information, call 910-671-9393.
LUMBERTON — Biggs Park Mall and Southeastern Health’s Community Health Education Center will partner to host a “Going for the Gold” mall walk on March 13. The general public is invited to wear green and walk around the inside of the mall from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Walkers should register at the center for refreshments and prizes. Diane Zepaltas, a registered dietitian at Southeastern Health and coordinator for Project HEALTH, will share tips and tricks about eating for a better, healthier life. Free breakfast will be served.
