This Thursday’s business mixer at Mariani’s will include something more than the typical snack and chat with prizes. COMtech will be seeking input from attendees on a variety of topics and new initiatives set to roll out this fall. You’ll have to drop by between 5 and 7 p.m. to catch them all, but here are a few to stir your interest.
A marketing board is being formed by COMtech to improve recruiting and new business development. Attendees will have a chance to recommend individuals to this small, but highly-focused committee comprised of a cross-section of local business leaders from banking, insurance, real estate, and other professions. Board members will develop marketing strategies based on information gathered from a series of executive roundtables — the first targeting agri-business and food processing opportunities, and later meetings focused on health care, warehousing/distribution, and niche manufacturing.
COMtech’s Courtney Chavis and LaVianca Ledbetter will also be taking recommendations and gauging interest from individuals who wish to join a new Young Professionals Group. The two interns plan to leverage COMtech’s partnership with UNCP’s Center for Entrepreneurship as part of the University’s Kettering Institute project. Young Professionals Group of Robeson County seeks to enhance the vitality of our local economy by creating a strong community of young professionals.
A Big Idea Box will be ready to accept anonymous input. Taking a page from the Lumberton Tomorrow initiative, COMtech will crowd-source attendee’s bold, audacious ideas that could transform our regional economy.
Between the music, games and networking, the team at COMtech will take time to recognize our partners, sponsors, and also highlight upcoming park projects and special events such as the inaugural Family Fishing Tournament.
The chambers of commerce from Robeson and surrounding counties have helped spread the invitation so this should be an excellent networking opportunity for our region’s businesses.
This is an RSVP event, so please email: firstname.lastname@example.org or call 910-522-9944.
Ryan Nance is executive director of COMtech.
