PARKTON — A Sampson County man who was being sought for attempted murder was arrested after he was found hiding in the closet of his sister’s home in Parkton this weekend, according to Parkton Police Chief Tammy Lowery.
Jonathan Edward Carr, 24, of Roseboro, was found inside his sister’s home on Conatser Drive about 2 a.m. Saturday, Lowery said.
Lowery said Parkton and Maxton police were told on Friday that Carr might be in the area, and that he was “heavily armed and dangerous.”
“I was really concerned because he’s not going to be able to go into public with all these warrants,” Lowery said. “… He was probably going to be robbing, stealing for money to get by.”
Lowery said Carr’s sister knew he was staying in her home, but wasn’t charged because she cooperated with police.
Carr was wanted in Sampson County on two counts of attempted first-degree murder, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or inflict serious injury, and discharging a weapon into occupied property, Lowery said.
According to Cpl. Marcus Smith of the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office, Carr is accused of firing a gun at a single-wide mobile home in the Bearskin area on Jan. 30. Two men suffered minor injuries..
Carr was transferred early this week to the Sampson County jail, where he was placed under $500,000 bond, Smith said.
According to the N.C. Department of Correction, Carr has been convicted numerous times, for driving while intoxicated, resisting an officer and assault with a deadly weapon.
