BOLIVIA — Frank Williams, a Brunswick County resident, was recently elected chairman of the North Carolina Republican Party’s 7th Congressional District, which includes Robeson County.
He replaces Brunswick County’s Frank Iler, who was elected to the position at the end of April, but resigned to fill a seat in the state House.
As district chairman, Williams will act as Republican party liaison between county, district, and state levels.
The district’s other officers include Bob Muller, vice chairman from Pender County; Wendy Pridgen, secretary from Robeson County; and Beth Dawson, treasurer from New Hanover County.
The 7th Congressional District includes Robeson, Bladen, Columbus, Brunswick, Pender and New Hanover counties, and parts of Scotland, Cumberland, Sampson, and Dublin counties.
MAXTON — The Maxton Chamber of Commerce will hold the first of several entrepreneurial workshops on Thursday at the Maxton Resource Center. There is no charge for the workshop, which will begin at 7 p.m.
The workshops are an outgrowth of the NC Step Program grant from the N.C. Rural Development Center. They will cover such topics as planning, financing and marketing, and will be led by various professionals.

LUMBERTON — The Robeson County Black Caucus will have its regular monthly meeting on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Weed and Seed meeting on Martin Luther King Drive in South Lumberton.
The meeting will be focused on receiving funds from the Golden Leaf Foundation, the federal stimulus and other potential grants.
