FLORENCE, S.C. — Florence Little Theatre will present the classic Neil Simon comedy “Barefoot in the Park” beginning Friday.
Paul and Corie Bratter are newlyweds in every sense of the word. He’s a straight-as-an-arrow lawyer and she’s a free spirit always looking for the latest kick. Their new apartment is her most recent find — too expensive with bad plumbing and in need of a paint job. After barely moving in, they get a surprise visit from Corie’s sweet but loopy mother. They decide to play matchmaker with their neighbor-in-the-attic, Velasco, where everything that can go wrong, does.
Soon Paul realizes he doesn’t understand Corie. And as she sees it, he’s too staid, too boring, and she wants him to be a little more spontaneous. Running “barefoot in the park” would be a start.
The cast includes Celly Marshall Kahn as Corie; Joseph Hilbourn as Paul; Liz Davis as Corie’s mother; Lloyd Willcox as Velasco the neighbor; Larry Falck as the telephone repair man and Shannon Dunn as the deliveryman. “Barefoot” is directed by D. Keith Best and was underwritten by Anne and Dan Ervin.
Performances dates and times are: Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m.; March 12 at 3 p.m.; March 14, 15, 16, 17 and 18 at 7:30 p.m. each day.
Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for students with ID. The group rate is $10 per person for groups of six or more — available for this production only.
