LUMBERTON — Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is coming to the A.D. Lewis Theatre on the campus of Robeson Community College from Thursday through March 26.

Andrew Lloyd Webber, creator of “Phantom of the Opera” and “Cats,” was asked to create a musical version of the story of Joseph and his coat of many colors for his middle school’s Easter concert. From that small musical, Joseph has become a worldwide phenomenon, with more than 20,000 productions in schools, theatres and churches.

Webber’s family musical features a group of local amateur and professional actors in a high energy re-telling of the story of Joseph and his coat of many colors.

“Joseph” is also a show that can be enjoyed by church groups, family groups and choruses. A study guide and background materials that can be used for group or Sunday school class study. Special church shows with all seats only $8 will be Saturday and March 26 each day at 2:30 p.m. All groups will receive reserved center seating.

The production is being presented by Purple Door Productions in partnership with the Robeson Community College Foundation and is sponsored by Century 21, The Real Estate Centre of Lumberton.

Tickets at the door will be $15 for adults, $8 for students and $5 for RCC staff and students. This production is made possible by a Grassroots Grant from the N.C. Arts Council and the Robeson County Arts Council.
