Beginning at 8 a.m. in the Community Health Education Center beside Shoe Shoe in Biggs Park Mall, Dr. Kailash Chandwani, pain management specialist with Southeastern Spine and Pain, will present a program on pin management conditions and treatments.

Free oral, head and neck

cancer screenings offered

LUMBERTON — Gibson Cancer Center is partnering with local dentists to offer free cancer screenings in late April.

Oral, head and neck cancer is a common form of cancer affecting any part of the oral cavity, pharynx, throat, thyroid and larynx. Regular check-ups can detect early states of these cancers or conditions that can lead to these cancers.

Information regarding the signs, symptoms and risk factors associated with oral, head and neck cancer can be found at HeadAndNeck.org.

Screenings will be held from noon to 4 p.m. at Gibson Cancer Center, located at 1200 Pine Run Drive in Lumberton, on April 20; from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Gane and Karshner Family Dentistry, located at 4309 Ludgate St. in Lumberton, on April 21; and from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Colin P. Osbourne III Dentist, located at 407 W. 27th St. in Lumberton, on April 26.

Relay for Life fundraiser

includes man’s best friend

LUMBERTON — Grab your pooch and head to Luther Britt Park in April for an event that will raise money for Robeson County Relay for Life.

Gibson Cancer Center and the American Cancer Society will host Bark for Life on April 23 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Luther Britt Park’s Shelter A in Lumberton. Participants are invited to bring their dog along with a leash, proof of vaccination and clean-up baggies. The event will include a hot dog sale, raffle, K-9 demonstration and contests for best trick, oldest and youngest dogs, best costume and dog and owner look-a-like.
