First Baptist Church in Lumberton, NC is a Family of Faith, seeking to know Christ, worshipping
together,and sharing His love through Missions and Ministry.
First Baptist Church was organized in 1855 and has worshipped God and served
this community ever since. From a small group of people with a great dream,the church has grown through the years to its present size of over 1100
members.
First Baptist is involved in a wide variety of programs and activities for
all ages. Everything that we do stems from our commitment to Jesus Christ as
Lord, to each other as the family of God, and to serving God in missions and
ministry here in Lumberton, around our state and across the world.

Missions Activities for Children-6:00p.m.
Sunday School-Classes are offered for every age person at 9:45 a.m. each
Sunday. Bible Study , Fellowship and often coffee and doughnuts are offered
for Sunday School Attendees. Children learn Bible Stories, play games and
make crafts together. Youth participate in Bible Study and Fellowship together.
Children's/Preschool Ministry-We offer child care for church functions,
Parent/Child Dedication, Parenting Classes, Choirs, Handbells, New Member
Classes, Vacation Bible School, Summer Music/Day Camp, Children's Day, and
lots of seasonal events. Our goal is to help our children grow as Jesus
grew: physically, mentally, spiritually, and socially.
Special Education-Our Friends of Jesus Class is a non-denominational class
for mentally handicapped individuals ages 16 and up. We offer Bible Study,
crafts, and trips. Each year, members attend a "Happiness Retreat" as well
as participate in various other activities.
Youth Ministry-We provide a ministry for Youth to be involved in their
spiritual growth and development. There are numerous opportunities for
participation including: Weekly Bible Study, Mission Trips, Retreats, Yearly
Ski Trip, and Youth Week.
Senior Adults-Our Seniors have the opportunity to minister to and with one
another through our Senior Adult Ministry. We have a monthly brunch with Senior Adult emphasis speakers or entertainment on the last Thursday of each month, local trips, overnight excursions, fellowships and visitation to Nursing Homes.
Music Ministry-We strive to aid this congregation in offering sincere praise
and worship to our Lord. A concerted effort is made by the staff to use a
variety of music styles and mediums to accomplish this goal. We have vocal
choirs for ages 4-adults and handbell choirs from 4th grade up.
