PEMBROKE — One candidate filed to run for the Lumbee Tribal Council on Tuesday, the second day of the caniddate filing period.

Elaine McNeil Collins is seeking the District 9 seat currently held by Anita Hammonds-Blanks. District 9 is the Saddletree Community.

Collins did not supply The Robesonian with a photo or any biographical information.

The candidate filing period for the Nov. 17 election continues through Sept. 18. Those wishing to file to run for tribal chairman or one of seven district seats on the Tribal Council can do so at the Elections Board office at 78-D, Three Hunt’s Drive in COMtech business park, just outside of Pembroke on N.C. 711.
