LUMBERTON — A Lumberton teenager accused of shooting and killing a man on Rozier Church Road has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder, according to the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office.
Tierra Kay Hammonds, 18, is accused of shooting William Christopher Hardin in the head at about midnight Tuesday. The shooting occurred in the carport at Hardin’s residence following an altercation between the 36-year-old and Hammonds’ boyfriend, according to a statement sent from the Sheriff’s Office.
The boyfriend, who was not identified by name in the statement, had struck Hardin multiple times with a stick before Hammonds emerged from the black car, where she had been waiting with a handgun, according to the statement, and shot Hardin. The couple returned to their vehicle and drove off.
Hardin was taken to Southeastern Regional Medical Center, where he was placed on life support before dying early today. No bond has been set for Hammonds, who is being held at the Robeson County Detention Center.
