LUMBERTON — For the fifth consecutive year, Robeson County has been awarded a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada.
According to the nonprofit, the certificate of achievement is the “highest form of recognition in the area of government accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.”
The award goes to Kellie Blue, the finance director for the county.
“Our Finance Department does a great job to make sure finances in Robeson County are exemplary,” said Commissioner Roger Oxendine, the chairman of the county’s Personnel Committee said. “I attribute receiving this honor to Kellie’s leadership and her staff.”
In a statement, Stephen J. Gauthier, of the Government Finance Officers Association, said he hopes Robeson County’s success at financial reporting will serve as a model for other governments.
“We (association) hope that your example will encourage other government officials in their efforts to achieve and maintain an appropriate standard of excellence in financial reporting,” he said.
