Police seek men who stole winning lotto tickets


LUMBERTON — The Lumberton Police Department is looking for two men who stole winning lottery tickets from a Rowland Avenue convenience store during the weekend.

Exxon Shop No. 1, located at 2801 Rowland Ave., was robbed on Saturday.

According to a statement from the Police Department, two men entered the store and were making a purchase when one pulled out a handgun and pointed it at a store clerk. The man grabbed cash from the register and two $20 lottery tickets, the statement said.

According to the statement, both tickets were winning tickets and they were cashed in Fayetteville about an hour after the robbery.

Both men are black. One of the men has a goatee and is about 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs about 350 to 400 pounds. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing gray sweatpants and a gray short-sleeve shirt.

The other man is about 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighs about 160 to 190 pounds. He was wearing black pants, black shoes, a gray New York Yankees ball cap and had a thin beard.
