FAYETTEVILLE (AP) — Police in Fayetteville say a man whose body was found over the weekend was homeless and was beaten to death in a robbery.

Authorities said another homeless man, 36-year-old Darrell Johnson, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder.

Officers say people walking found the body of a man Sunday morning behind a business on Ray Avenue.

Police say 60-year-old Linwood Boahan was beaten to death, but they didn’t say what was used to attack him. They also didn’t say what was stolen from the victim.

Johnson is being held without bond at the Cumberland County jail. It wasn’t known if he had a lawyer.
