GREEENSBORO (AP) — Authorities say three teens charged in the beating death a 74-year-old man in Greensboro during a robbery made off with $3 and a cellphone.

The warrants obtained by the News & Record of Greensboro also say Larry Brown was beaten to death with a fire extinguisher as he walked to the bus stop on July 29.

Police charged 17-year-old D’Angelo Matthews with first-degree murder along with a 14-year-old girl and 15-year-old boy whose names have not been released because of their ages.

Authorities say the three teens stole several fire extinguishers from apartments in the area and were spraying them before the beating.

An autopsy found Brown died from head injuries.
