Fairmont gets 2 new police officers

Staff report

FAIRMONT — Two new officers, Cody Blount and Jonathan Evans, have been sworn into the Fairmont Police Department.

“Both Jonathan and Cody are excellent officers and will quickly prove to be an asset to the department,” Police Chief Kimothy Monroe said.

Blount, from St. Pauls, previously served with the Lumberton Police Department.

“He has strong ties to the Fairmont area which is why he chose Fairmont as his home and we are grateful to have him join our team,” Monroe said.

Evans returned to the Fairmont Police Department after working for a private security firm. Evans previously worked for the department for about three years.

“His love for policing has brought him back to Fairmont and he was also recently certified by N.C. Training and Standards,” Monroe said.
