RALEIGH. (AP) — North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory is signing into law legislation that includes preventing disclosure of some personal data about police and giving home builders local tax breaks on unsold properties.

McCrory’s office said Wednesday he signed 10 more bills into law.

One stops local governments from releasing emergency contact information and other details that might identify a law enforcement officer’s home. Mobile phone numbers of government-issued phones for police, fire and rescue personnel are no longer considered public records. McCrory says the change provides additional security for first-responders and their families.

Another measure means home builders avoid having to pay property taxes for up to three years based on the value of newly constructed homes on land they own. Only the land’s pre-construction value would be subject to tax.
