PEMBROKE — A Pembroke man is facing drug charges after attempting to flee from a vehicle stop during which officers found cocaine and illegal prescription pills, according to the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office.
Brian Carl Oxendine, 20, was stopped by officers Wednesday within the city limits of Pembroke because his vehicle’s rear window was obstructed, according to the Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division.
After being pulled over, Oxendine attempted to run from law enforcement and while he was running tossed way drugs he had in his pants, the Narcotics Division said.
According to the Narcotics Division, officers seized 27.8 grams of cocaine and 190 prescription pills.
As a result, officers searched Oxendine’s Harper’s Ferry Road home, where they seized a shotgun and drug paraphernalia, the Narcotics Division said.
Oxendine was charged with possession with intent to sell or deliver cocaine; possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver a schedule 2 substance; conspiracy to sell or deliver cocaine; maintaining a drug vehicle; trafficking opium or heroin; possession of drug paraphernalia; and resisting, delaying or obstructing an officer. He was jailed at the Robeson County Detention Center under an $80,000 secured bond.
