PEMBROKE — Police at The University of North Carolina at Pembroke say they have located the victim of an abduction reported early this morning.

According to an email alert sent by the university, a sexual assault and abduction were reported at about 4:30 a.m. today. The alert says the offenses were alleged to have taken place off campus, but were reported on campus.

University Police Chief McDuffie Cummings Jr. confirmed at about 9:30 this morning that the victim was accounted for. The alert provides no details about the crime or its victim.

Police had been looking for a man in connection with the abduction, but Cummings said no one had been charged in connection with incidents “yet.”

This morning, police were looking for a black man possibly driving a two-door blue or green car. The car is believed to be an older model, either Ford or Toyota.

According to the alert, the man is described as about 30 years old, about 5 feet 8 inches tall and medium build. He was wearing a blue shirt and blue shorts and was last seen heading east toward Lumberton.
