PEMBROKE — One candidate filed Friday to run for a seat on the Lumbee Tribal Council.

Don Allen Scott is seeking the District 5 seat. District 5, which encompasses Oxendine and Prospect, is currently represented by Bobby Dean Oxendine.

Scott did not provide The Robesonian with any biographical information or a photo.

The voters on Nov. 17 will have the chance to fill seven council seats and elect a tribal chairman. The filing period end on Friday.

In addition to the District 5 seat, c0uncil seats to be filled include: District 1, Gaddy, Rowland, Orrum and Sterlings; District District 4, Red Springs and Philadelphus; District 7, South Pembroke and Union; District 9, Saddletree; District 10, Shannon, Rennert and South St. Pauls; and District 14, East Howellsville, Wisharts and Britts.

Those wishing to file can do so from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Elections Board office at 78-D, Three Hunts Drive in COMtech business park on N.C. 711.
