LUMBERTON — A Rowland woman has been charged with murder five days after the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office says she shot and killed her ex-husband.

According to Maj. Anthony Thompson, chief of detectives, Jennie Lynn Locklear was charged at about 11:30 a.m. on Friday with first-degree murder for the death of Jessie James Locklear on Sunday.

Jennie Locklear, 53, is also facing charges of larceny of a firearm and possession of a stolen firearm, which was used to shoot Jessie Locklear, Thompson said.

She has been jailed at the Robeson County Detention Center without bond.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, Jessie Locklear was at 414 Jennie Road on Sunday to feed his animals when Jennie Locklear shot him below the waist. Jessie Locklear,who was 55 years old, died while being transported by Emergency Medical Services.

Jennie Locklear also lists the 414 Jennie Road home as her address, but the Sheriff’s Office said the two had not been living together.
