LUMBERTON — Michelle Nix, who was recently elected vice chairman of the North Carolina Republican Party, will be the guest speaker when the group meets at 6:45 p.m. Thursday at Golden Corral in Lumberton.
Nix previously served three terms as chairman of the Lenoir County Republican Party.
Don Metzger, a Lumberton city councilman, is also scheduled to speak. Metzger, who has represented Precinct 1 for eight years, is running for the mayor’s seat that will be left open by Raymond Pennington, who did not seek re-election. Metzger is opposed by Councilman John Cantey, and Bruce Davis, a former councilman.
