CHARLOTTE (AP) — A South Carolina-based sales and marketing company is expanding its North Carolina presence by 500 jobs in the next five years, thanks in part to a nearly $3 million state tax break.

State officials said Tuesday that Red Ventures will expand its Mecklenburg County operations, where the company now employs about 560. The company handles customer calls and creates websites for client companies while also selling their products.

The company headquartered in Rock Hill, South Carolina, employs more than 2,800 people.

Red Ventures last year got a state tax break of up to $3.2 million to add at least 580 North Carolina workers within four years. The company will have to keep those employees as it adds software developers, analysts, IT specialists and inside sales agents paid $49,000 on average.
