LOUISBURG (AP) — A woman has been charged in the stabbing death of her 88-year-old roommate at a Louisburg assisted living facility.

Local media outlets report that Franklin County deputies responded to a reported stabbing at The Jordan shortly before 3 a.m. Tuesday and found Elouise Collier dead.

Authorities say 57-year-old Patricia Marrow was charged with first-degree murder. She was being held without bond at a women’s prison in Raleigh, and a date for her first court appearance has not been set. It wasn’t clear if she had an attorney.

Chief Terry Wright says worker heard screaming, raced to one of the rooms, and found Collier lying on the floor and Marrow standing over her.
