LUMBERTON — Four men have been charged with robbing a Lumberton bank Saturday morning, according to the Lumberton Police Department.

The robbery occurred at about 9:15 a.m. when a man, identified as 23-year-old Eric Cardoza, entered Carter Bank and Trust on Fayetteville Road and presented an employee with a note demanding money. Cardoza left the bank with an undisclosed amount of money, the statement said. No one was injured.

His vehicle was stopped “a short time later” on Interstate 95 near mile marker 27 with the help of the state Highway Patrol, the statement said.

Cardoza, of Gibson Street in Fayetteville; Steven Tyler Hutsell, 19, of Spreading Branch Road in Hope Mills; Kareem White, 19, of Carlos Avenue in Fayetteville; and David Stewart, 27, of Crumpler Drive in Hope Mills, were each charged with common law robbery and conspiracy.

Cardoza, Hutsell and White were each jailed under a $10,000 bond. Stewart, who was also charged with outstanding warrants issued by other law enforcement agencies, was jailed under a $119,000 bond.
