LUMBERTON — A second person has been charged in the murder of a Lumberton man at a Proctorville home last month.

Comanche Brooks Locklear, 27, of Doe Trail, was arrested Monday and charged with first-degree murder in the May 26 death of Gary Wayne Bisbee. Locklear was also charged with robbery with a firearm, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit robbery.

Bisbee, 23, was found shot to death in a Proctorville home after a resident of the home, Zonna Locklear, told Columbus County deputies that she had been kidnapped from the house and forced at gunpoint to drive the kidnappers in her car to Chadbourn, where they left her on the side of the road.

Zonna Locklear was charged Friday with first-degree murder for Bisbee’s death and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder.

Columbus County authorities found her on the side of N.C. 410 uninjured and asked Robeson County deputies to go to the North Sterling Street home in Proctorville, where they found Bisbee’s body. Authorities determined that he and Zonna Locklear had been in bed when two unidentified intruders came into the house and shot Bisbee.

Maj. Anthony Thompson, chief of detectives for the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office, said more charges are expected in the case. He declined to say how many people authorities believe were involved in Bisbee’s death. He did not know the relationship between Comanche Locklear and Zonna Locklear.

Upon his arrest Monday, Comanche Locklear was also served with warrants for two 2015 assault charges. He was jailed at the Robeson County Detention Center without bond.

Comanche Locklear was charged in 2013 with first-degree murder in the shooting death of 36-year-old Chad Lowery, but court records show the charge was dropped on Sept. 9, 2014.
