LUMBERTON — Highway Patrol troopers are trying to determine why the vehicle a 17-year-old was driving ran of the road on Sunday in an accident that killed him.

According to a report filed by Trooper J. Bullard, Jamison Hunter Brixey died at the scene after the Chevrolet pickup truck he was driving left the road and struck a ditch. The accident occurred at about 11:45 a.m. Sunday on Rozier Siding Road near Howell Road, between Lumberton and St. Pauls.

Brixey lived on Howell Road.

Brixey, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle. There were no passengers in the car.

Bullard said investigators are still determining the factors that led up to the wreck.
