LUMBERTON — A sewer overflow last week leaked about 12,600 gallons of wastewater in Lumberton, according to a statement from the city.
The spill occurred at about 10:30 p.m. on Saturday at 515 Noir St. and ended at about 2 a.m. Sunday. According to the statement, the overflow reached surface water in the Lumber River. It happened during a period of heavy rain.
The city is required to notify the public of the spill under state law. The Division of Water Quality was notified and is reviewing the matter.
