ASHEVILLE (AP) — Authorities in Buncombe County are looking into the death of a local doctor at his home in Arden.

The Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office told local news outlets in a news release that 64-year-old Frank Buddy McCutcheon died of an apparent gunshot wound. Officers were called to his home on Saturday by McCutcheon’s wife.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, there is no immediate threat to the community and an investigation into the incident is ongoing.

The Sheriff’s Office hasn’t released any details of what happened, classifying it a “suspicious death investigation.”

The website of the North Carolina Medical Board, McCutcheon’s primary area of practice was plastic and reconstructive surgery. His practice website said McCutcheon had been practicing for more than 30 years.
