LUMBERTON — A St. Pauls man has been arrested and charged with using a weapon while robbing a Dollar General store on Wednesday, according to a statement from Lumberton police Capt. Terry Parker.

Parker said that 25-year-old Kevin Locklear, who lives on U.S. 301 North. St. Pauls, was arrested Friday without incident at a Lumberton hotel on Roberts Avenue. He is charged with armed robbery in connection with a theft at the Dollar General at 240 Roberts Ave. at about 9:37 p.m. Wednesday,

During the robbery, the gunman took an undisclosed amount of money and fired a shot, but no one was injured. Afterward, police circulated photographs of the gunman taken by a surveillance camera at the store.

“The Lumberton Police Department Investigative Division would like to thank the public for their assistance identifying Mr. Locklear from the photo shared through social media and media outlet resources,” Parker said in the statement.

Locklear was jailed under a $5,000 secured bond. His photograph was not available for this story.
