LUMBERTON — The Lumberton City Council on Monday night is expected to finalize a vote to award a contract for demolition of two dilapidated warehouses downtown.
The City Council on Wednesday voted to award the contract for the demolition work to 4 Seasons Site and Demo from Wilmington, whose bid was $296,896. Council members are expected to make that vote official when they convene Monday for their regular monthly meeting.
The former textile mills are on Town Commons and First streets. The city plans to use money from a $495,041 grant to demolish them, revitalize the properties and market them for industrial use.
Among other items on Monday’s agenda, the council will hold a public hearing on a request to annex three lots in the Amberdale subdivision into city limits. The development is off of Meadow Road.
The meeting begins at 6 p.m. in the third floor council chambers at City Hall.
