CHARLOTTE (AP) — The Carowinds theme park on the border of North and South Carolina is bringing back a holiday-themed event next year.

The park announced Thursday that “WinterFest” will be held at the park beginning in November of 2017. The festival will allow visitors to meet with the Sugar Plum Fairy, feed Santa’s reindeer and see holiday-themed live shows.

Park spokeswoman Laresa Thompson says that similar events were held at the park in the mid-1980s and again in the mid-2000s. She says the park hopes to create a family tradition with people returning for the holidays year after year.

Meanwhile, the park also plans to add four new rides to a new section of the park with a county fair theme that opens next spring.
