LUMBERTON — Robeson County residents who want to vote early but don’t want to make the trip to the Board of Elections office in Lumberton have five satellite sites at which they can cast a ballot beginning Saturday.

The satellite sites are in Maxton, Fairmont, Pembroke, St. Pauls and Red Springs. Additionally, votes can be cast at the elections office at 800 N. Walnut St. until early voting ends on Nov. 5, three days before the election. As of late afternoon on Friday, 4,580 ballots had been cast at the Board of Elections.

The satellite sites will be open at the following times: Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day; and Thursday and Friday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day. The sites are as follows: Fairmont Senior Center, 421 S. Main St.; Maxton Public Library, 210 N. Florence St.; Pembroke Public Library, 413 S. Blaine St.; Red Springs Community Center, 122 Cross St.; and St. Pauls Town Hall, 210 W. Blue St.

Ballots can be cast at the Elections Office on the following days and times: Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m.; Monday and Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day; Wednesday from 8:15 a.m. to 6:15 p.m.; Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day; and Nov. 5 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

There are competitive races on the local level all the way up to the presidency. Voters do not have to present a photo ID to cast a ballot.
