ST. PAULS — Members of the St. Pauls Lions Club are seeking donations for the Walker-Loflin Fund from now until Dec. 10.

The goal for this year is $36,000.

The 2015 campaign raised more than $25,000, benefiting 220 families. Organizers are hoping to raise even more this year, with many Robeson County residents feeling a financial strain after Hurricane Matthew.

Donations are used to purchase certificates for clothing at Maxway, grocery certificates for Piggly Wiggly and Fresh Foods and certificates to help pay for with heating and cooling bills.

The fund was founded in 1987 by St. Pauls Lions Club member and Town Administrator Joe Loflin in honor of a longtime club member, John Walker. Loflin’s name was added to the fund’s title when he died.

Due to Hurricane Matthew, St. Pauls Elementary School was unable to hold its Fall Festival, which is typically a major fundraiser for the campaign.

“No matter what size donation that you can provide, it is all gratefully appreciated,” a notice announcing the campaign said.

Donations may be dropped off at Evans Insurance at 205 W. Blue St., or at Town Hall at 210 W. Blue St. Donations can be mailed to Walker-Loflin Fund c/o St. Pauls Lions, P. O. Box 653, St. Pauls, NC 28384
