LUMBERTON — Lumberton police have charged a city teenager with two counts of attempted murder in a shooting that occurred last month following an argument at a fast food restaurant on Roberts Avenue that left two employees of the establishment with severe injuries.

Capt. Terry Parker said in a statement that Damian Jeremiah Bowers, 19, who lives on the 100 block of Bowden Lane, was arrested without incident on Thursday in Wilson. The statement did not give any indication on where in Wilson or what led local police to that city.

In addition to the attempted murder charges, Bowden is accused of two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, inflicting serious injury. He was placed in the Robeson County jail under a secured bond of $80,000.

Bowers is accused of shooting Darius Lewis and Patrick Britt, both McDonald’s employees, on Nov. 11 when they asked him and a group of people he was with to move their vehicle because it was blocking a delivery truck at the restaurant. Lewis and Britt, who were each 25 years old, were in good condition at Southeastern Regional Medical Center and expected to recover the last time The Robesonian checked on their conditions. Britt was shot twice and Lewis a single time.

Police released several surveillance photos taken than night that showed several people in a red/burgundy over tan/brown van, but the photos were grainy and identifications were difficult. The photographs can still be found on www.robesonian.com.

The statement said that more arrests are possible as the investigation continues. Anyone with additional information can call Lumberton police Detective Lee Hinson at 910-671-3845.
