LUMBERTON — A second person has died in two days from a fire in Robeson County.

Robeson County Fire Marshal Stephanie Chavis confirmed the second death this morning just a day after a Pembroke man died in a fire at his home.

No details on the second victim were available at press time other than that he was male.

Michael Wayne Chavis, 58, died in a fire at his home at 2651 Philadelphus Road in Pembroke either late Monday or early Tuesday. He was a longtime highway patrolman and was a motivational speaker on the dangers of addiction.

Both fires are still under investigation.
