LUMBERTON— The Board of Education for the Public Schools of Robeson County will meet at 6 pm. Tuesday.

The meeting will be held at the Robeson County administrative building at 701 N. Elm St. because the system’s central office on N.C. 711 was destroyed by the flooding from Hurricane Matthew.

According to the meeting agenda, Superintendent Tommy Lowry will discuss FEMA activities with board members. There will also be a transportation update provided by Assistant Superintendent Thomas Benson and Raymond Cummings,director of transportation for the schools; an update on the school district’s graduation rate; a school calendar update; and a curriculum update.

The Bus Driver of the Month, and the Certified and Classified Employees of the Month are also scheduled to be recognized during Tuesday’s meeting.

In advance of that meeting, the board’s Construction Committee will meet at noon on Monday at the Robeson County Emergency Management Operations Center at 38 Legend Drive in Lumberton.

The purpose of the meeting is to discuss construction needs; to discuss the Request for Qualifications for architecture/engineering design services; and the Request for Proposal for comprehensive disaster recovery services and financial and grant management support.
