LUMBERTON — The Disaster Recovery Center in Cumberland County will close Thursday at 6 p.m., but the one in Lumberton will continue operating.

The one that will close is located at Cumberland County Department of Social Services at 1225 Ramsey St. in Fayetteville. Anyone seeking help related to Hurricane Matthew can do so by calling the Federal Emergency Management Agency Helpline at 800-621-3362 for voice, 711 and Video Relay Service. If a person is deaf, hard of hearing or has a speech disability and use a TTY, call 800-462-7585.

The Lumberton center is located at the old Kmart building at 2750 Roberts Ave. There is also a Disaster Recovery Center in Edgecombe County, which is at that county’s Health Department at 3003 N. Main St. in Tarboro.

Monday was the last day to register for assistance through FEMA. People who are registered with FEMA are encouraged to keep in touch with FEMA and call the Helpline with any questions.

If a person requires a reasonable accommodation (American Sign Language interpreting, Braille, large print, etc.) while visiting a recovery center, call the appropriate Helpline number listed above for support. These toll-free numbers are open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., seven days a week.
