LUMBERTON — Chief District Court Judge J. Stanley Carmical will ask the Robeson County Board of Commissioners on Monday to serve as the applicant for more than $2 million in grant money to expand substance abuse treatment capacity in adult and family drug courts.

Carmical will be there to speak on behalf of the Robeson County Family Treatment Court Program.

The funding would be for as much as $425,000 per year for five years, and there would be no match requirement. The money would be used to continue and expand services for children and families in Robeson County struggling with substance-abuse disorders.

The commissioners will also be asked by Seed Harvest and Development Inc. for financial assistance for the Free Store, which is located at 322 E. Fourth St. in Lumberton. It is a collaborative effort between SHADE Inc. and First Baptist Church to help victims of Hurricane Matthew. The Free Store provides numerous services to hurricane victims throughout the county.

According to the meeting agenda, other business to take place at Monday’s meeting includes:

— A presentation of animal health issues by Dr. David Brooks, a veterinarian representing the Robeson County Veterinarian Medical Association. Brooks will present a rabies update and information about next month’s spade and neuter clinic.

— Consideration of appointments to the county’s Board of Equalization and Review.

— Consideration of appointments to the Robeson County Public Library Board of Trustees.

— Consideration of a resolution supporting the work of the Robeson County Disaster Recovery Committee.

— Review and action of issues involving the Robeson County Housing Authority.

The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in the commissioners’ room of the county administration building on North Elm Street.
