LUMBERTON — Nearly four years after the shooting and attempted trobbery of a Robeson County man outside his home, the last of five people implicated in the case was arrested Monday.
Amanda Lynn Collett, 29, of Lumberton, joins three others who are charged with the attempted first-degree murder of Martinez Sanchez, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy.
A fifth person, Dymaree Savon Thompson, 22, of Lumberton has been convicted of crimes in the case, and is serving 62 to 87 months in the N.C. Department of Corrections.
According to a statement by Erich Hackney, an investigator with the District Attorney’s Office, Sanchez was shot on April 16, 2013, at Rosewood Mobile Home Park, where he lived at the time. In addition to Collett and Thompson, others charged are Jodie Forrest McKoy, 25, of Lumberton, Ricky Hunt Jr., 28, of Loris, S.C., and Gerry Devonta Quick, 23, of Rowland.
Hackney said the five were at the mobile home park but their intended target was not home whenSanchez entered arrived in his vehicle. They approached him and demanded money, and when he fled, two of the accused fired their weapons, Hackney said.
Collett was placed in Robeson County Detention Center under $300,000 bond. Hackney said Collett, who has been a fugitive since November, has failed to appear in court more than 30 times since 2008 for other offenses. The U.S. Marshal’s Service as well as the Georgia Bureau of Investigation assisted in her arrest.
“There is no statute of limitations on felony offenses in the state of North Carolina,” Hackney said. “Some cases might take a while to solve, but for those who commit felony offenses, they should get used to looking over their shoulder.”
Quick, who was already incarcerated on kidnapping, robbery and double-murder charges in the deaths of Anthony Brown and Michael Thompson of Rowland in October 2015, was arrested by Hackney on Sept. 9, 2016, and given an additional bond of $150,000 and placed back in the Robeson County jail.
McKoy was arrested by Hackney the same day and jailed under a $110,000 bond.
Hunt was arrested by Horry County Police Department in December on an unrelated felony assault charge and placed in the J. Ruben Long Detention Center in Conway, S.C.
