LUMBERTON — The Robeson County Republican Party held its annual convention Tuesday and re-elected its current leadership team.

They are Phillip Stephens, chairman; Linda Metzger, first vice chairman; Jarrod Lowery, second vice chairman; Hila Wilkerson, secretary; and Bo Biggs, treasurer.

Commissioner David Edge welcomed the delegates on behalf of local officials, and District Chair John Steward did as well.

The party made a presentation to Olivia Oxendine in memory of her husband Gervais Oxendine, who was a party leader on the Executive Committee and died in May.

Party organization plans were adopted and delegates to the District and State Conventions were selected.

Dallas Woodhouse, chairman of the state Republican Party, was the keynote speaker.

Sen. Danny Britt and Rep. Brendan Jones, Republicans who are members of the local legislative delegation, were in session and could not attend, but sent greetings, as did U.S. Rep. Robert Pittenger, a Republican congressman, who spoke through video message.
