LUMBERTON — Looking for a good meal, some fun, and a chance to help a local civic organization help nonprofits, all on what promises to be a sun-splashed spring Saturday?

The Lumberton Junior Service League’s “Suit Your Fancy” Yard Sale/Vendor Sale is taking place from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Lumberton Senior High School, with profits being distributed to local nonprofits. It is free and the public is encouraged to attend to shop or to sell.

“This is the first time,” said Kristi Britt, the civic club’s correspondence and recording secretary. “We hope to make it an annual event.”

The event includes the selling of steak dinners for $15 a plate, Britt said. The plate sale will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and the league is supplying the food.

The league is still accepting vendors to participate in the event, Britt said. An outdoor vendor booth is $25 and the cost of an indoor booth, which would be set up in the school’s front lobby, is $50. Anyone interested in a booth should contact the civic club by email at [email protected]. Donations of items are also be accepted, and to do that contact the club through that email.

Sponsorship opportunities also are available.

“There is no monetary goal. We’re just appreciative of whatever we can raise,” Britt said.

Proceeds will benefit the following The Robeson County Humane Society, Boys and Girls Club, Rape Crisis Center, Christian Care Center, and many more.

“The league is an all-women organization that does volunteer activities in the community and raises funds to support nonprofit organizations in the area,” Britt said.

The forecast for Saturday is for sunny skies with highs bumping up against 80 degrees.
