LUMBERTON — A man was shot and wounded early today during an armed robbery attempt at a local apartment complex, a police spokesman said.

David Williams, 30, was shot in the leg about 3 a.m. while in the Grenada Terrace parking lot, according to Capt. Terry Parker said. He was treated and released from Southeastern Regional Medical Center.

Williams, who lives at the apartment complex on the 3600 block Fayetteville Road, was approached by two men wearing hoodies and armed with handguns who then tried to rob him. Nothing was reported stolen, and investigators don’t know why he was shot.

There were no security cameras to record the incident. No suspects have been identified.
