LUMBERTON — A Maxton man says he saw a girl matching the description of a Laurinburg teenager who has been missing since Sunday morning.

Tiarra Yvonne Monley, 13, was reported missing at 9:26 a.m. Monday by her mother, Laura Monley, of the 500 block of Tuskegee Drive, who told police she hadn’t seen her daughter in nearly 24 hours, according to police Capt. Terry Chavis.

According to a police report, Tiarra has short black hair and brown eyes, stands at 5 feet tall and weighs about 150 pounds. When her mother last saw her, she was wearing a black tank top and black and grey leggings.

About an hour after the 13-year-old’s disappearance, a Maxton man said he saw a girl matching that description sitting in a red 4-door sedan that had broken down near his home, according to Chavis. The man reported that the teenager, who was accompanied by another young girl with several facial piercings, soon got into a gold Chrysler 300 which headed towards Laurinburg.

Tiarra, who was visiting from Fayetteville, has been missing since she walked out of Laura Monley’s home at 8:45 a.m. Sunday “without permission” and went in “an unknown direction,” Chavis said.

The case is being treated as a runaway, according to Chavis.

Anyone with information should call the Laurinburg Police Department at 910-276-3211.
