Ag Center to host a slew of Sept. shows

LUMBERTON — September will be a busy month for the Southeastern North Carolina Ag Events Center in Lumberton.
There will be a bully breed dog show on Sept. 7. This is an American Bully Kennel Club-approved show. The doors will open at 8 a.m. for competitors. The show will begin at 11:30 a.m. There is a $15 admission fee for adults, children under the age 12 are free. For information, call Sigmund Platt at 336-314-7238.
On Sept. 14 and Sept. 15, the Carolina Cutting Horse Association will hold its second show in a series. The show starts at 8 a.m. and will go until the last horse competes. During the event, a rider must select a single cow from the herd and separate it. Once separated, the rider will turn it all over to the horse. Parking and admission are free. On Sept. 20, the Southeast North Carolina Ag Show will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. and continuing on Sept. 21 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. There will be antique tractors and equipment, music and entertainment, arts and crafts, exhibits and demonstrations, food vendors, children’s games and events. On Sept. 20 there will be a Lawn Mower Pull and a tractor pull on Saturday. Admission is $5 for adults and children under 12 are free.

On Sept. 27 and Sept. 28, the Stockhorse Association will hold a two-day show. This show will be one of a series of shows being held at the center’s indoor horse arena. One additional show is scheduled for Oct. 25 and Oct. 26. The Southern Stockhorse Association is open to all western stock-quarter type breeds. The Southern Stockhorse will be awarding two year-end high-point saddles. The saddles will be won by the year-end high-point rider in both the Open and Amateur Divisions.
The weekend action will begin Sept. 27 at 5 p.m. with cutting horses. Stockhorse Versatility classes are scheduled for Sept. 28 beginning at 8 a.m. There will be a Jackpot Sorting at 6 p.m. on Sept. 28. The event is free for spectators.
