LUMBERTON — Two attorneys specializing in issues affecting the elderly have established a partnership.
Diane Surgeon, who has represented people as they prepare for their long-term care needs,recently joined the elder law firm of W G. Alexander & Associates of Raleigh.
Surgeon and Alexander are both active members of the Elder Law Section of the NC Bar Association; ElderCounsel and the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys.
Surgeon has presented a number of private and public educational seminars, where she discusses long-term care insurance, assistance programs for veterans and surviving spouses, and preparation for long-term nursing care, including powers of attorney.
Surgeon has served on community forums with the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Black Women’s Agenda in North Carolina, Virginia, Texas and Washington, D.C.
Alexander is active with WealthCounsel, the Mid-South Forum of Estate Planning Attorneys and the Advisors Forum. He was named the Elder Law Attorney of the Year in 2011 and 2016 by the NC Chapter of NAELA.
Surgeon and Alexander will both practice in their Lumberton and Raleigh offices.
The attorneys will hold a joint workshop on March 14 at 10 a.m. at the Robeson County Public Library Osterneck Auditorium to discuss Medicare and asset protection. The seminars are free, but seating is limited so reservations need to made by calling 910-272-0121.
